On 15 December 2024, the Foundation for Shared Impact (FSI) team hosted a Christmas party and art workshop at Gowld Art Centre to celebrate the holiday season alongside the HSBC scholars from the Hub for the Future Community. The event saw participation from 16 HSBC scholars, who gathered to mingle with new members of the community while enjoying a variety of festive snacks.
The gathering kicked off with a welcome note by Dina Pesumal, Program Manager at FSI, followed by an introduction about the inception of Gowld Art Centre from its founder, Kaisha Woo, who shared her passion for establishing the organisation: Gowld Art Centre envisions a community that nurtures the Body, Mind, and Spirit through arts, fostering creative confidence, holistic growth and love. It aims to build an open and compassionate society, and believes that this transformation begins with each individual. Kaisha then provided insights and guidelines for the day’s theme, “A Brighter Tomorrow”. Scholars were encouraged to explore their creativity around this theme using watercolours, acrylics, and mixed media, with 15 minutes allocated for brainstorming ideas.
Throughout the afternoon, the scholars engaged in artistic creation interspersed with fun Christmas-themed games. Once they completed their artwork, each scholar was invited to share the inspiration and concept behind their creative piece, fostering an atmosphere of mutual appreciation as they admired each other’s designs.
The HSBC scholars left with a revitalised energy and meaningful connections from the event. Ka Yan Hui remarked, “This event gave me the opportunity to reflect on who I want to become and the future I wish to build. I aim to bring fresh ideas and inspire others. Life is about painting and mixing; there’s no right or wrong. We all progress differently, yet we all share a common goal in the end. Thank you for organising this gathering filled with fun and significance! I truly enjoyed sharing my artwork with everyone.”
Yuet Yi Hung added, “It was wonderful to hear each other’s backgrounds and experiences while exchanging ideas for our art creations. The workshop was exceptionally well-organised! I look forward to more art workshops in the future.”
